NTPC Limited's 400 MWh battery EPC package at Mouda closes on 12 October

Five reads on India's energy estate this week.

The AwardNTPC awarded emissions and effluent monitoring at Darlipali on 29 September with data transmission and annual maintenance on the same contract as the hardware. The ShiftNTPC's 10 MLD de-mineralisation plant for the Pudimadaka green hydrogen hub closes on 15 October, and no electrolyser package is on the board yet.The WindowNTPC's 400 MWh battery EPC package at Mouda closes on 12 October 2026 at 1:00 pm, and the tender states no megawatt figure. The NumberOf NTPC's 421 live tenders, 80 are maintenance contracts and only 4 are EPC packages, a board that rewards weekly rather than monthly review. The PatternNTPC is buying FGD spares and consumables at Vindhyachal, Kudgi, Sipat and Mouda, moving the purchase from project desks to station stores.
The Award

The Guardian · The Innovator · Profit and Planet

NTPC Limited awarded real time emissions and effluent monitoring at Darlipali on 29 September, with annual maintenance attached

The award covers supply, installation, commissioning and comprehensive annual maintenance for real time data transmission of continuous emission monitoring systems, effluent quality monitoring systems and environmental cameras at NTPC Darlipali. It was awarded on 29 September against a tender published on 6 August.

The scope is not the instrument. It is the instrument plus the transmission plus the maintenance of both, on one contract. Compliance monitoring is being bought the way an industrial buyer buys a service, with the data path and the uptime inside the same obligation as the hardware.

Who should act

Emissions and effluent monitoring instrument makers, environmental data and telemetry providers, calibration and maintenance service companies, and systems integrators serving compliance.

Next step

If you sell monitoring hardware, find out who will hold the data transmission and the annual maintenance. On this contract they are the same party.

The Shift

The Innovator · The Strategist · Profit and Planet

Unfinished water treatment vessels in a row on a construction site, with pipework running toward the horizon.
Water treatment vessels going in ahead of any electrolyser hall at a hydrogen hub site. Illustrative.

India's green hydrogen hub is being built water first, and the de-mineralisation plant is in the market before the electrolyser

NTPC Limited has an EPC package open for a 10 MLD de-mineralisation plant for the NTPC Green Energy Limited green hydrogen hub at Pudimadaka in Andhra Pradesh, closing 15 October. There is no electrolyser package on the board. An electrolyser cannot start without de-mineralised feed water, so the water plant is on the critical path and is contracted first.

Who should act

Water treatment and de-mineralisation contractors, reverse osmosis and ion exchange suppliers, electrolyser manufacturers tracking Indian demand, and investors timing hydrogen exposure.

Next step

Use the water packages as the schedule for Indian hydrogen. They close first and they are specific about capacity.

Dates to mark

Closes 15 October 2026 at 1:00 pm.

Thread: industrial-storageThe largest storage package on this board states its energy and not its power, which leaves the duration open.

NTPC Limited's 400 MWh battery EPC package at Mouda closes on 12 October

NTPC Limited's EPC package for the implementation of a 400 MWh battery energy storage system at Mouda closes on 12 October 2026 at 1:00 pm. Bidding document CS-9575-171C-9, tender ID 2026_NTPC_112216_1, published 26 September. It is one of only four EPC packages on a board of 421 live tenders, and the only one that is storage.

Who should act

Storage system integrators, power electronics and inverter suppliers, electrical EPC contractors, civil contractors near Mouda, and cell and module manufacturers seeking a route to market.

Next step

Open the bidding document before assuming a duration. The tender gives 400 MWh and no megawatt figure, and the two hour assumption is yours, not theirs.

Dates to mark

Closes 12 October 2026 at 1:00 pm.

The Number

The Operator · The Guardian · Profit and Planet

Opened steam turbine casing under maintenance in a long power station turbine hall, with repeating roof trusses receding.
A turbine opened up for overhaul, the everyday work behind most of a power utility's live tenders. Illustrative.

Four of NTPC Limited's 421 live tenders are EPC packages. Eighty are maintenance contracts.

The composition of a procurement board tells you what a company is actually doing, and this one is unambiguous. Of 421 live tenders at NTPC Limited today, 121 are supply orders, 80 are maintenance contracts, 63 are spares lines, 21 are civil and repair, 19 are services, 4 are EPC packages and 2 are consultancies.

There are 20 maintenance contracts for every EPC package and 15 spares lines for every one.

Who should act

Spares distributors and original equipment manufacturers, maintenance contractors, industrial services companies, and sales teams setting their call frequency on this account.

Next step

Set your review of this board to weekly, not monthly. At 93 new lines a week, monthly checking misses three quarters of what appears.

The Pattern

The Strategist · The Guardian · Profit and Planet

A worn agitator shaft and propeller on a pallet in a power plant yard, with a row of absorber vessels receding behind.
A spare agitator assembly waits on a pallet beside a line of installed absorber units at a coal-fired power station. Illustrative.

Flue gas desulphurisation has become a spares market

NTPC Limited has put out consumables and maintenance lines for flue gas desulphurisation at four stations. UPS systems for the stage 3 and 4 FGD at Vindhyachal. An absorber tank agitator assembly for the Kudgi FGD. Low tension switchgear spares for the stage 1 FGD at Sipat. Compressor lubricants and air compressor spares for the stage 2 FGD at Mouda.

FGD arrived as a capital programme. It is now an installed base with a consumables bill, and the buying has moved from project desks to station stores.

Who should act

FGD original equipment manufacturers and their service arms, absorber and slurry handling spares suppliers, industrial lubricant and compressor service companies, and switchgear spares distributors.

Next step

If you sold FGD equipment into Indian stations, your revenue from it is now in the station stores budget. Price and stock accordingly.
